Jing Jing Chen is currently the product and operations leader at BASIC 3PL. She has over 18 years of experience in men’s wear design and marketing, shaped by a career that spans both corporate and startup environments.
She spent roughly five years in manufacturing helping build the U.S.-based firm Active Apparel Group, where she played a key role in scaling the business more than 100-fold, including growth from roughly $1M to over $120M, while developing supply chain and development solutions for 50+ brands, including names like Equinox. Recently, Jing Jing joined Basic 3PL, where she focuses on supporting business growth and expansion through automation, AI, and robotics, bringing a modern, tech-forward lens to an industry that often lags. Before we dig in, our readers would like to get to know you. Can you tell us a bit about how you grew up? I grew up with an appreciation for authenticity and originality. This foundation has shared how I will evaluate opportunities. This is the execution that gives ideas credibility, so now I focus on turning visions into reality. As I am evolving in my career, that mindset has always stayed constant. To me, leadership begins with clarity, through knowing who you are, what you stand for, and building with conviction. Is there a particular story that inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
We’d love to hear it. Early in my career, I saw how supply chain inefficiency could break a product. Founders would lose their profits, credibility, and sleep because they couldn’t scale their fulfillment. That led me to realize that I should focus on logistics as a growth engine rather than an operational necessity. Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began this fascinating career? One of our customers walked through our facility, and I watched their perception shift in real time, which was a defining moment for me. They expected BASIC 3PL to be “just another warehouse”.
They were able to experience what we were all about: robotics, controlled workflow, and high-level asset protection. By the end of the tour, they were so amazed that they were ready to partner with us. That moment made me realize something that resonates with me: when you elevate your operational standards, you elevate brand confidence. Are you working on any exciting new projects now? How do you think that will help people? Currently, we’re building a self-service fulfillment infrastructure with BASIC 3PL. Our goal is to give growing brands the power of enterprise systems without complexity.
We want the small businesses to be able to launch faster and be able to scale across channels while maintaining their inventory. Through removing operational friction, we allow brands to focus on innovation instead of the burden of logistics. Are you working on any exciting new projects now? How do you think that will help people? Global supply chains are very interconnected, which is a vulnerability that one node can cascade across the entire system. Product security is vital for maintaining brand reputation, consumer trust, and profit margins.
